Some Creative Stuff
Welcome to my world of creations! I’m Margaret Hamner, and I’ve been passionate about crafting since my mom introduced me to sewing when I was nine. From making my own clothes, including prom and wedding dresses, I’ve expanded into a wide range of creative hobbies.
My sewing skills have brought characters to life at Halloween carnivals, cosplay events, and on stage in productions like Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Chorus Line, and Chicago. I’ve designed many award-winning competitive dance costumes for both groups and solo performers. Beyond costuming, I also enjoy home decor sewing and upholstery, building miniatures, knitting, collecting vintage dresses, and journaling.
This website is my space to share the insights and techniques I’ve gathered through my journey. Each post delves into a different project, offering practical tips and inspiration for fellow creators. If you have any questions or want to learn more about my work, feel free to reach out to me at marghamner@gmail.com.
Happy crafting!

Home Dec
I usually create Home Decor items out of necessity. For instance, if I can’t find what I want ready-made or if I need a custom item of a specific size. My Home Dec creations include custom window blinds, a reupholstered chair and couch, a sofa slipcover, and various throw pillows.
Clothing
I have always been a fan of vintage dresses, and especially beaded gowns. I “rescue” beaded gowns I find in thrift shops and repair any worn beadwork or rips. Then I release the gowns back into the world on Etsy. I also sew apparel occasionally, so I’ve included that here.
Costumes
For many years, I have created various types of costumes for dancers, musical theatre companies, and friends. In these blog posts, I outline my process for developing a comprehensive costuming plan and budget, along with tips on how I designed and created the costumes.
Journaling
I began making my own work journals after taking an after-work class in Bullet Journal-Making. There are many different ways to journal, and here I’ve shared some things that work well for me.
Knitting
Knitting is my most relaxing creative outlet. I began “stress-knitting” during the pandemic lockdown, and found it so relaxing that I kept knitting once the world re-opened
Miniatures
I love tiny things, so I build and collect miniatures.
