Knitting
During the pandemic lockdown, like many others, I found myself feeling stressed and anxious. I needed a creative outlet to help me relax and unwind, and that’s when I rediscovered knitting. Knitting quickly became my go-to stress-reliever, and I found myself turning to it time and time again whenever I needed a break from the outside world.
One of the things I love about knitting is that it’s a quiet, contemplative activity. As I work my way through a pattern, my mind is able to wander and focus on the task at hand. The repetitive motion of knitting can be almost meditative, helping me to relax and de-stress.
Another benefit of knitting is that it allows me to be productive while binge-streaming television shows in the evening. Instead of just staring at a screen, I’m able to create something tangible and meaningful with my hands.
Since discovering knitting, I’ve created all sorts of projects – hats, scarves, sweaters, and more. One of the things I love most about knitting is that it allows me to create something beautiful and practical at the same time. And when I’m finished with a project, I can look back with pride and satisfaction at what I’ve created.
In the Knitting Gallery below, I’ve shared some of my favorite knitting projects. I’ve also included some of my favorite online knitting resources, and a list of handy tools that make knitting easier. Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or just getting started, I hope that the information I’ve shared will inspire you to pick up your needles and create something beautiful. Knitting is a wonderful way to take a break from the stresses of everyday life and connect with your creativity.

Knitting Necessities
Some things I couldn’t knit without
- Knitting bowls – Holds your yarn and prevents tangles while you knit
- Stitch Markers – Used to mark places within your knitting; Usually requested in pattern if needed
- Stitch holders – These temporarily hold a setion of knitting stitches, to help shape shoulders, sleeves, and other details
- Temporary stitch holders- Used to hold stitches when working cables and textured patterns
- Hooks – Used to recover dropped stitches (can also use small crochet hooks)
- Interchangeable knitting needle set – Quickly pays for itself over purchasing individual needles
- If you want to purchase an individual needle just for your current project, these are my favorite – Just be sure to pay attention to the needle size (and yarn weight) suggested on your pattern
- Pattern holder & guide – Very handy for working intricate graphed designs, such as for colorwork
